Semprini Records was founded in 2003 by Ramachandra Borcar after having had an unpleasant experience with the label he had previously been signed to. Taking matters into his own hands he released the "El Pipo Del Taxi" EP under his Ramasutra moniker. Using the label to put out his own exclusive material, Ram continued making remixes of his tunes as well as unreleased tracks that have been licensed on numerous compilations around the world.

In 2005 the soundtrack to the Mies van der Rohe documentary Regular Or Super was released as "Steel and Glass". That same year saw the release of the Marcia Seebaran song "Bitter" (remixed by Ram) and the signing of the Montreal duo Call Me Poupée. Their debut album, "Western Shanghai", was released in Canada in May of 2006.

Apart from the critically acclaimed music, Ram and graphic artist Thomas Csano worked on the award winning CD digipack designs together to create the label's own personal look. For us, the artwork is as important as the music!
