Borcar Nominated for a Genie Award!
Label-owner and film composer Ramachandra Borcar was recently honoured with a prestigious Genie Award nomination in the category of “Best Original Score” for his work on the psychological thriller Jaloux; a film by Patrick Demers. Other nominees in this category include acclaimed film composers Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings, Naked Lunch), nominated for Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method; and Mychael Danna (Capote, Little Miss Sunshine) nominated for The Whistleblower.
With a number of feature films & tv series in the works, 2012 is promising to be a busy year for Borcar. February sees the release of some of his most recent scoring work, including the highly anticipated hockey-comedy Goon, directed by Michael Dowse (Fubar), in theatres on February 24th; as well as The American Tiger doc [airs as part of David Suzuki’s Nature of Things on CBC television, Feb. 2nd]
Jaloux is currently available on DVD and via iTunes and Borcar’s atonal score for chamber orchestra is available for download on iTunes.
