Ramachandra Borcar presents
"The Stacked Deck"
Half Indian and half Danish, Ramachandra Borcar's diverse roots and classical music training have assured him of having a unique voice. Under the name of Ramasutra, his two critically acclaimed albums "The East Infection" and "El Pipo Del Taxi" pushed the boundaries of electronic music by incorporating a skillful blend of acoustic instruments and cutting edge production techniques.
Now under his full name and on his own label Semprini Records, he presents the original soundtrack to the award winning documentary "Regular Or Super", a film on the works of German architect Mies van der Rohe. The score has already gained notoriety amongst both film and music critics and the electronic-jazz soundtrack has finally been released.
The score was performed by Ramachandra's ensemble "The Stacked Deck", consisting of over a dozen of Canada's top jazz musicians. The recordings were done using vintage microphones and recording gear to give it a late 50's early 60's Blue Note Records' sound and the arrangements combine the cinematic atmosphere of John Barry and Henry Mancini. With the addition of subtle electronics and street smart beats, Ram has made a unique contribution to the electronic-jazz scene.
With the melodies and musicianship to please lovers of classic jazz and the ambiance to captivate the more adventurous listeners, the CD takes it's audience on a trip through time and the steel and glass towers of one of the world's greatest architects.
