Ramasutra is back with a brand new five song EP "El Pipo Del Taxi", featuring instruments and musicians from around the world, driving beats and sample collages that defy categorization.
The dark and mystical opening cut "Kwaidan" (Japanese for "ghost story") mixes electronics with the Japanese percussion ensemble Arashi Daiko. "Magma Mama", the middle eastern/tango/dub features oud player Sam Shalabi (of The Shalabi Effect) along with melancolic violin and piano. "The Losing Hand" hits the table as jazzy vocals float over a Brazilian rhythm section with renowned Indian slide guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya (of Shakti) and his brother Subashish on tablas. Sombre soundtrack "The Curse of The Eye" brings together funky beats and mad percussion with a spooky B-movie feel to it. The last track, a remix of "Magma Mama" entitled "More Magma: Ram's Volcanic Hotrod Taxi Mix" could easily have been in a 60's Italian spy flick complete with Latin percussion, surf guitars, tango piano and the Ondes Martenot.
